How has technology affected the way that you learn?

Technology had affected the way that I learn as it enables me to surf the net to get more information on something I want to know. I find technology very useful as it does not use up much time just to get hold of some information. In the past, people had to go to libraries to find for information however now, with technology, we are able to easily find the information we want. One specific example is when I needed some research on my Projects Day, I went on the net to get some information. It does not waste much time finding and hence I feel that technology has been a boon to my learning.

LA Online Lesson #7

The picture depicts a man from the Vietnam War. The atmosphere is very tense as there is a war currently going on. Everywhere is in a state of chaos. The war is very bloody and many lives have been lost. The man in the picture seems very depressed and seemed to be suffering. He is one of the many victims that suffered from the war. From his eyes, I can see that he feel that the whole situation is hopeless. If the war continues, many lives would be gone and more people would be suffering. He seems to be very tired of the war going on. This picture shows me that war is very cruel and as it caused much sufferings. Most war was due to human nature which is greed. Greed has caused many to suffer. All this sufferings could have been avoided if humans were not greedy. Countries fought war over natural resources, territory and many other issues. They did not consider how much problems war brings but they only look at the benefits. I hope that one day there would not be any conflicts and people can live together peacefully.

Caffeine

Caffeine have beneficial effects on the body because it enable us to stay awake. An example of this is me. Late in the night maybe around 10pm, as I was rushing my homework, I would have a cup of coffee so that I would be awake. Although I feel that it does not do much, I would feel awake as I felt that the coffee would have kept me awake. Hence I would be awake and continue to concentrate on my homework. Thus this shows that caffeine have beneficial effects on the body as it enable us to stay awake.

Do we still need Heroes? ( Essay )

I strongly believe that we still need heroes. The heroes we need do not need to have super human powers but ordinary people like us who have strong moral values. Heroes are important as they set as a role model for us to learn from, enable us to live in a peaceful environment and uphold justice by standing up for those who are wrongfully accused.

Heroes set as a good role model for us to learn from as they have strong moral values. People would treat heroes as their role model as they did many courageous act and hence people would want to be like them. An example of a hero is Abraham Lincoln. He successfully led the country through the American Civil War and ended slavery. People would hence respect him and would treat him as their role model to learn from. Thus, we need heroes as they set as a role model for others to learn from.

Heroes enable us to live in a peaceful environment as they would ensure that there would not be any conflict between people or crimes. An example of a hero we can see everyday is policemen. They work hard everyday to make sure that we are safe, maintain peace and ensure there is lesser crimes. Thus, I treat them as heroes as they help to ensure that we can live peacefully and not live in fear.

Heroes uphold justice by standing up for those who are wrongfully accused. An example of a hero is Atticus in To Kill A Mockingbird. Atticus defended Tom Robinson who was accused of assaulting and raping Mayella Ewell. Although the people in Maycomb called Atticus names like "nigger-lover ", he continue defending Tom Robinson. This shows that Atticus have strong moral values. Thus, we need heroes as they uphold justice by standing up for those who are wrongfully accused.

With this reasons that heroes set as a good role model for us to learn from, enable us to live in a peaceful environment and uphold justice by standing up for those who are wrongfully accused, I strongly believe that we still need heroes.

Do we still need heroes?

I think that we still need heroes as they are a good role model for us to learn from. Heroes have many good qualities and do many courageous acts to benefit others. An example of a hero was Lim Bo Seng. He lead many anti-Japanese activities recapture Malaya so people would not have to continue suffering. Hence, people would treat heroes like him as their role model and would try to learn from them to be like them.

Blog Writing Prompt #9

The English-language fiction book that I have read recently is TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. I enjoy this book because it is very interesting and keeps the reader in suspense. This book talks about prejudice and also about justice. The book also challenged me as the vocabulary used were quite hard to understand. I would recommend this book to my friends as I feel that it is worth reading.

Blog Writing Prompt #8

The most important or significant thing that I have learned so far from completing the Reading and Reasoning Exercises is that I am able to understand TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD better because I am able to understand the reason for their actions. An example of a question is why is Dill unable to remember if he father had a beard. This enable me to use the contextual knowledge to understand his actions to be able to understand TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD better. Hence I feel that by doing the Reading and Reasoning Exercises I am able to understand the reason for their actions to understand TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD better if not I would not really think of the reasons for their actions and just continue reading, hence unable to understand TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD better.

Racial prejudice

Racial prejudice can lead to war because of the misunderstanding between two races and hence would create conflicts like war. The American Civil war was caused because of different opinions on slavery. The Southern states were in support of slavery as they felt that they were more superior than other races hence deserve to be served by them. However the Northern states felt that people should receive equal rights hence slavery should be abolished. Hence the different opinions and racial prejudice lead to war.

C) Why was the civil war fought?
Due to moral values
-Manliness
-Godliness
-Duty
-Honor
Race
The northern states did not support slavery, and because of this the southern slave states, who supported it, declared their secession from the United States, forming the Confederate States of America, fighting for their independence.

D) When was this war fought?
The civil war was fought on April 12, 1861 – April 9, 1865

E)What was the outcome of the war?
As rebuilding progresses, The thirteenth amendment is ratified.
Many people are tried and executed or imprisoned for war crimes like assassinations.
Slavery in the South has stopped, and slaves were all freed.

F)How does the Civil War relate to TKAM?
The civil war was fought due to Americans having different opinions on slavery. Some thought white people were superior and deserved having other races serve them. This is also evident in TKAM, as the white people were prejudiced against black people. Black people were not allowed to sit with the whites, and there was the widespread opinion that black people were always up to no good. To quote the book “any black person cannot be trusted around our women”. This quote shows the prejudice the whites have towards the black. The prejudice is further accented when Atticus asks the question “Have none of you looked at a woman with desire?”. This shows the white people were prejudiced, as they themselves had done what they thought all black people would do.

I think the Civil War and Mississippi Burning are quite similar. There were conflicts due to racial equality and equality of all man. A reason the civil war was fought was because of inequality of races in some states. The white in those states felt that they were more superior and hence should deserve having other races serving them. Similarly, in Mississippi Burning, there were many conflicts between the white and the black. The movie shows the blacks being discriminated and were often attacked by the Ku Klux Klan who wanted to restore white supremacy. I feel that all man should be treated equally regardless of their race or religion and that these conflicts could be avoided if different races could understand each other better.

Jack and Jill

This is our company's new creation. It is this super helmet that protects your head from any injuries. The size is adjustable and it is very light. It only weighs 300 grams and it is very comfortable. Torches are installed on the helmet hence it enables you to see in the dark. I will give you an example of the uses of this helmet.

One day, Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. However, Jack tripped over a stone and fell down the hill and broke his crown. Jill tried to hold on to Jack but ended up tumbling down the hill also. Jack got up and ran home immediately. He went to bed after wrapping his head with vinegar and brown paper.

However, if Jack had wore this helmet, he would not have injured himself. With this helmet, he is able to see the stone ahead and would not trip over it. If he had fell down the hill, this helmet would have protected his head from getting injured and hence after he had tumbled down the hill, he can stand up and continue climbing up the hill. If Jill had also wore this helmet, Jill could warn Jack of the stone ahead and when she had tumbled down she would not get injured too.
