T3 Blog Prompt #5

Write several paragraphs ( 200-350 words ) of descriptive narrative prose, but without using adjectives or adverbs.
The point is to give a vivid description of a scene or an action, using only nouns, verbs, pronouns, and articles. Adverbs of time ( then, next, later, etc.) may be necessary, but be sparing with them.

Not even a soul could be found on the streets. It was at night. All the houses were filled with darkness. Everyone, including my family had gone to the stadium for the soccer match. I just came back from my classes, feeling exhausted. I dragged my feet home.

As I was about to enter my house, I heard noise coming out from my neighbour's house. It can't be! My neighbour had gone to watch the soccer match. Out of curiosity, I decided to find out more. I climbed over the fence and ran towards the entrance. The door was left opened! I knew that something was wrong. I decided to investigate on this.

The house was in a mess. Everything was not in place. I was horrified. I explored the house, searching for clues. Then, I saw two figure in the bedroom. I tiptoed towards the bedroom. Two men were in the room whispering to each other. They were dumping items into their sacks. It appeared to me that there were burglars. Immediately, I dialed for the police.

The burglars turned and saw me. I was shocked. Immediately, I dashed for the door. One of them gave chase while the other tried to escape with the loot. When I ran out of the house, I lost my footing and fell. He managed to catch up and he warned me not to speak a thing about this or he would injure me. I trembled, afraid that he would hurt me.

Just then, police arrived at the scene. The man attempted to escape but was pinned down. His accomplice managed to escape. I explained what happened and then the police brought the burglar back for interrogation. I felt relieved and hope that such things would not happen again.
